FAIRNESS IN FEES AND BILLING POLICY
We believe in providing our clients with high quality work for a fair price:
- We ordinarily will bill our services on an hourly basis. We typically send monthly invoices covering services performed during the previous month.
- Our typical invoice will identify the individual legal matter, the period of time represented by the invoice, the date of each activity performed, the attorney or para-professional performing the activity, a detailed description of the work performed, professional time expended in tenths of hours, the applicable rate, and the total charge for that activity.
- Hourly rates for each attorney vary depending on the type of file and professional experience level. Travel time will be billed using the same hourly rates.
- Clerical fees, such as secretarial time, are not charged. General office costs (overhead) are included in our quoted rates and are not billed separately. Any non-overhead, matter-specific costs arising out of our legal work may be billed. These costs may include long distance telephone charges, photocopying, and mileage at IRS-maximum approved rates.
- Clients with whom we do not have a long-standing relationship and payment history may be required to provide an evergreen retainer to be deposited in a trust account consistent with current Michigan Supreme Court rules governing Michigan attorneys.
- We welcome and attempt to promptly and professionally resolve any question which may arise with respect to any of our bills.
